Start of the Swimmer

To learn and practice the start or start in swimming, you must always take into account the position of the same and the starting position with Lifeguard Class. Also the conditions of the swimmer, his powers in his legs and rest of the body, his reaction in speed, his coordination in total movements, his perception of balance.

We always have to take into account the clean and jerk, the entry into the water, and coordination, balance and proprioception. This last condition is the ability of the body to detect movement and position in the joints, that is, the sense of perception and balance. Also take into account the kind of cube that is used in the first practices.

The progression to be carried out has four fundamental moments or positions:

The perfect position with jump and foot entry. You should always practice and try to get into a correct starting position. The starting position is very similar to that of a runner. It should be, with the front foot and rear foot position. One leg should be behind your body in line with the hip and the other leg should be in front of the edge of the blocks, also in line with the hip, with a correct semiflexion of the legs and muscle contraction, without hindering the start of the movement. The toes of the front foot should be gripping the bucket. The hips should be higher than your head, to achieve a good starting position. And both hands should be gripping the edge of the bucket.

The position with three supports and the entrance of head to the water. Here the balance plays an important role, because if one does not have a good balance, he cannot jump well with the exit, where he will enter the water in a defective way. Here the 3 supports (hands and front foot), which are in a natural position holding on to the edge. The back foot is suspended. Then the lead leg will produce the momentum on the lead leg which will have to drive and balance. To control this, the muscles of the entire trunk and upper body must have the necessary movement control.

The swimmer has his support

The position with a support and head entry. The swimmer has his support with the front foot. With the hands and rear foot suspended. There must be a lot of concentration, and this must be practiced a lot. In the jump, a logical order of movements must be carried out. With this we will achieve confidence, stability, coordination and balance in the game itself.

And the full Output. One must focus more on the kinetic chain of this sporting gesture, and there, the start and a great control of movements are performed. The position of the legs, their knee flexion and hip position are fundamental. The position on the cube should be neither too relaxed nor too tense. the signal, there is what is called reaction time, where I am, you have to train it a lot. The swimmer should not get used to starting by intuition, but by a lot of reaction work in his departure, especially neuromotor coordination.

You should use different sounds or kinds of signals, and create distracting situations, signals from different positions, such as blindfolded jumps, and everything that can help improve this important moment.

When we enter the water and dive, the body must be as aligned as possible, with the arms as extended as possible in front, to achieve the least resistance of entry.
